Cordoba Stands up in the Argentinean gay Tourism Industry

“Happiness in freedom” will be the name of the First Gay Fest to be carried in the Argentinean province of Cordoba, from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 in August, specifically in the town of Villa Carlos Paz. Its aim is not getting wild or a party without limits, in fact, it’s quite the opposite: aiming at promoting gay tourism in the mountains, which now monopolizes Buenos Aires, one of the capitals of the pink tourism.

Ten years ago, in April 1998, a gay encounter at “La Cumbre”, 100 kilometers from Cordoba Capital for Easter generated the anger of the neighbors who “worried about security” were opposed to its realization, but finally materialized with a parade of floats, under the traditional marches and pride.

All this was in the past and today, this mega event has the official support of the municipality of Villa Carlos Paz. Since neighboring localities, such as La Falda or Capilla del Monte, already expressed their interest to the next meeting takes place in other tourist cities in the valley.

The city of Carlos Paz has not been chosen randomly by the organizers. Since last year, the Charter of the tourist village organist allows civil unions of same-sex, a fact that encourage the gay community to adopt the city as a great place to spend their holidays.

The residents of the village receive well the encounter, because they understand that this form of tourism was not exploited until now in the region, and that is a large vein.

Balmaceda, with 16 years in the market for events, was exceeded by the impact of the event. “We believe that there is too much interest,” he confessed, while he said he received a call this morning from Uruguay with 50 confirmations to assist.”

In the grid of activities, which can be read on the site of the City of Carlos Paz, are published all the events to which participants will have access: There will be wine and tobacco tasting, presenting coiffeur and fashion designers, lectures on Buddhism and other activities.
