Gay couples will be again allowed to marry in California
In a judgment that, according to analysts could have an impact across the whole United States, the seven-member panel voted 4-3 in favor of those who argued that allowing the legal marriage only between a man and woman is discriminatory.
“Limiting the description of marriage as the union ‘between a man and a woman’ is unconstitutional and must be removed from the statute”, considered Ron George, president of the court. One of the plaintiffs in the case before the Supreme Court, Diane Olson, held stating: “Today is the happiest day of my life, I’m honestly extremely happy for all of us,” she told a local radio station.

In San Francisco, one of the most gay populated cities of the world, couples approached the council to immediately apply for marriage licenses, even when authorities said they can not be issued before the least 30 days. Technically, this decision opens the door to marriages between same-sex couples in California, which becomes the second state, after Massachusetts, in granting such right.
