Mr Sulu’s dream comes true, a gay marriage.
Actor George Takei, who embodied Sulu in the television series Star trek, will marry his boyfriend Brad Altman after the California Supreme Court gave the green light to the marriage between same sex, said today in its website.
The 71 years old Takei, better known by fans as Mr. Sulu, noted in his official website he was “excited” to see that the way was now clear to marry Altman, after 21 years of being couples.
“Our California dream is a reality”, sayed Takei. And he added: “The barriers to complete a marriage between same-sex couples was demolished. We are equal to other citizens of our State.”
Takei, who recently appeared in the television show Heroes, said in addition that at the moment he and Altman, his representative art, are busy preparing the wedding. “For now, Brad and I are enjoying the delicious dilemma of deciding where, when and how we are going to marry,” he said. He added: “Equality in marriage took a long time but, like with good wine, its bouquet is simply exquisite.”
The California Supreme Court on Thursday issued a ruling which gave green light to perform marriages between same-sex couples. However the decision will become effective in 30 days and meanwhile the official authorities of the State are receiving huge amounts of applications for marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples.

I think it is a shame that Mr Takei, has had to wait so many years to fulfill this dream. We are quick to say that love knows no boundaries, yet when it comes to this issue of same-sex marriage, many people are offended.
Why then, are some people so surprised about same-sex relationships and marriages?
It would seem that many people who believe love knows no boundaries, mean that, only in reference to heterosexual couples.
Life is too short to not seek happiness. We are who we are,
We love who we love. There should be no distinction between heterosexual unions and gay unions. Truly, love knows no boundaries. I hope Mr Takei and Mr Altman have joy in their married life together.
