The Gay Transexual Seal, Rape incident with a Penguin

An Antarctic fur seal tried to have sex with a king penguin, which is a very unusual case of attempted mating between distant species, and the same sex.

The bizarre mating attempt between the male Antarctic fur seal and a King Penguin, took place on a beach in the Subantarctic Marion Island, in South Africa. South Africans Scientists filmed the incident, which lasted 45 minutes.

It is unclear why an animal tried to have sex with another, but experts speculate it may have been due to inexperience or sexual frustration of an exemplary young seals. (I don’t know why they are leaving behind the gay sex party theory?)

Others beleive it could have been an aggressive predator action, or perhaps simply a game that turned sexual.

“At first glance we believe that the seal was trying to kill the penguin,” said Nico de Bruyn, from the Mammal Research Institute at the University of Pretoria.

The experts who captured the incident where on a mission to study elephant seals, but they were surprised to see an Antarctic fur seal 100 kilograms trying to impose a penguin of 15 kilograms.

The victim moved its wings in a desperate attempt to break free, according to witnesses.

The seal alternated between stand on the penguin and push the pelvis to copulate, but without success.

After 45 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, the mammal left his attitude and retired to the water, ignoring the bird.

It is unclear why an Antarctic fur seal attempted to have sex with a penguin king.

The sexual coercion among animals is very common: males of many species often harass, pressuring or forcing females to the copulation of the same species.

“Sexual harassment is sometimes more common in mating systems that are not monogamous, and in species with more males than females,” said de Bruyn.

Non the less, this is considered the first filmed case of a mammal trying to copulate with other kinds of vertebrate as a bird, a fish, a reptile or amphibian, and the bonus is that they are of the same sex.

“With all certainty we were facing a unique case, as far as we know it had never before been recorded anywhere in the world,” said de Bruyn.

Specialists believe the penguin was left unharmed after the failed copulation attempt.
