Places of Clubs, Discos & Afters in the city of Los Angeles

Apache Territory

Address:
11608 Ventura Blvd. Studio City
Phone:
(1) (818) 506-0404
Description:

The small dance floor fills on weekends with Valley boys bored by the snootier WeHo scene. This is a major pickup scene. It's especially popular on Thursday nights.

The Bullet

Address:
10522 Burbank Blvd. North Hollywood
Phone:
(1) (818)762-8890
Description:

Bullet aims and shoots for a hip and older Hollywood gay set. While young gay Hollywood shows off their designer jeans on the other side of the hill, this North Hollywood bar draws a crowd of 30-something and over gays. The Bullet doesn't have a dance floor, but it rotates themes nightly between karaoke, a beer bust on the outdoor patio and other thrills.

Cuffs

Address:
1941 Hyperion Ave. Silverlake

Faultline Bar

Address:
4216 Melrose Ave.
Phone:
(1) (323)660-0889
Website:
http://www.faultlinebar.com
Description:

Never is the disparity between West Hollywood's designer gloss and Silver Lake's casual side of L.A. gay life more apparent than at Faultline. Modeled after a '70s San Francisco leather bar, it's populated by a raucous blend of bears, leather daddies and a surprising number of disheveled but good-looking younger men. The entrance leads to a simple yet welcoming patio, and the club itself is pretty run-down. The atmosphere is that of a free-for-all--without the brawling.

Neighborhood bar with lots of different events.

Fubar

Address:
7994 Santa Monica Blvd. West Hollywood
Phone:
(1) (323)654-0396
Website:
http://www.fubarla.com
Description:

A far cry from its former incarnation as Rafters, Fubar caters to a young crowd looking for circuit-party alternatives. The mishmash decor includes psychedelic James Bond-type designs, along with an old movie poster from the 1936 film "The Love Wanga," featuring the tagline "Strange loves of queer people." Curtains separate the raised pool table area in the back from the main room.

4100 Bar

Address:
4100 Sunset Blvd.
Phone:
(1) (323) 666-4460
Description:

This is a pretty cool hang on the weekends. The bartender's  Brandon and Ralph are pretty cool. They play cool music too. During the week it doesn't get going until 11 or 12. Parking can be an issue if you get there later then 10. I like the decor and the big Buddha in the back!

Akbar

Address:
4356 W. Sunset Blvd.
Phone:
(1) (323) 665-6810
Website:
http://www.akbarsilverlake.com
Description:

Probably the best thing about a lot of the Los Angeles drinking scene is that, well, there's never a lack of cool places to bend your elbow in and Akbar should come speeding to the top of your list. Akbar is primarily a gay bar, but c'mon this is Los Angeles and a hip bar is a freaking hip bar so this local Silver Lake bar sports an eclectic mix of drinkers, gay and straight sets, a kitschy retro styled vibe and some very creative nightly drink specials poured to the sounds of a well stocked juke.

Arena

Address:
6655 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood
Phone:
(1) (323) 462-1291
Description:

This 22,000-square-foot megaclub is the sister venue to Circus Disco. Arena's warehouse-like interior offers a flurry of laser lights and a back-breaking sound system that rivals its nightclub neighbor. The upstairs is split into two smaller rooms, which feature hip-hop and salsa. Local legends like Christopher Lawrence and DJ Irene supply house and techno beats.

Circus Disco

Address:
6655 Santa Monica Blvd.
Phone:
(1) (323) 462-1291
Website:
http://www.circusdisco.com
Description:

With an 1,800-capacity setting, this club spreads them out in seven areas, including a VIP lounge, bungalow, patio and disco room. Saturday it's Spundae's turn. It continues to bring in the top names of the DJ scene every weekend. Check out the upstairs lounge, where you can chill out with your honey, or throw a few back with your friends. If lounging isn’t your gig, there is a second dance room next to the main room downstairs. In this room you can listen to the second DJ spinning, and dance to a melodic, more relaxed mix of house music.
